The CBN Jr Stars will be holding open tryouts on Thrusday September 9, Tuesday September 14 and Wednesday September 15 at 9 o’clock at Capital Hyundai Arena. A $5 fee will be charged to all players for these three tryouts.

 

SATURDAY  March 6

The CBN Slatework Junior Stars blew a 2-0 first period lead and that lead to a St Johns Caps three goal outburst in the second period and the Caps beat CBN 4-3 to take a 2-0 lead in the Kent St. John’s Junior Hockey League  best of seven semi final series.

Patrick Parfrey scored the winning goal for the Caps at 11:51 of the third period on the power play. Blair Carter, Roger Pender and Kyle Smith had the other goals for the Caps. Jacob Lewis Brandon Burry and Tyler Walsh scored for the losers.

CBN had a 2-0 lead after the first but the Caps took a 3-2 lead after two.

CBN outshot the Caps 38-32.

CBN win in extra time to get to semis.

It was the longest series in the quarter final series of the Kent St. John’s Junior Hockey League and it finally came to an end Wednesday night but the last game also proved to be the longest of the series.

Brandon Burry’s second goal of the game at 12:01 of the second overtime session gave CBN Slateworks Junior Stars a 4-3 win over C and W OffShore Breakers in game seven of that quarter final series. The Stars take the series four games to three and now face the first place St. John’s Capitals in the semi-final series. Tyler Walsh and Zack Ryan had the other goals for the winners.

Darrul swain, Will Brazil and Andrew Gale had the Shore goals. The Breakers were down at one point in this series three games to none and then ran off three straight wins to force the seventh and deciding game.

The other semi final series pits Mask security Celtics against Mount Pearl.

GAME 7:  JR STARS WIN SERIES IN DOUBLE OVERTIME!  The winning goal was scored at 12:01 of the 5th period. 

The Jr Stars will begin the Semi Finals series against St. John’s Caps on Friday night at the Bay Arena.  More details of the game will follow:

The CBN Slateworks Jr. Stars would like to thank the following players for their commitment to the JR Stars over the past number of years. This is the final year for these six players.

Michael Roberts 

Michael played two seasons with the Stars, appeared in 26 games, scored 6 goals and added 9 assists for 15 points in regular season games. Playoff statistics are not available at this time.

 

Stephen Dawe

Stephen played total of 61 regular season games ovwer three seasons, scored two goals and added 10 assists for 12 points.

 

Bradford Saunders

Bradford played a total of 78 regular season games for the Stars over six seasons, two as an AP player and 4 as a regular member of the team. Bradford scored 7 goals and added 20 assists for 27 points.

 

Adam Park  

Adam played a total of 91 regular season games over four years with the Stars, scored 44 goals and added 41 assists for 85 points.

 

Blair Adams

Blair played a total of 99 regular season games over four year with the Stars, scored 46 goals and added 45 assists for 91 points.

 

Josh Hurley

Josh played 101 regular season games over 5 years with the Stars, one as an AP and the other four as a regular member of the Stars.  Josh scored 9 goals and added 16 assists for 25 points.

C and W Offshore force a game seven

C and W OffShore Southern Shore Breakers lost the first three games of their best of seven quarter-final series with CBN Slateworks Junior Stars and looked like they would make an early exit from the post season. Well the Shore have rebounded and claimed the next three games including a 9-5 win Saturday night to force the seventh and deciding game.

Andrew Gale and Shane Boland scored two goals each. Gale also had two assists and Boland setup three others. Darryl Swain, Mike Chafe, Andrew White and Chris Hammond had singles. Hammond also added four assists.

Mason Reid netted two goals for the Stars while Tyler Walsh, Brandon Burry and Shane McGrath had the singles.

It was 2-0 Shore lead after one and they held a 4-1 lead going to the final period.

CBN won the first game of the series 4-1 and took game two 3-2 and went up three games with a 6-5 win. The Shore have rebounded with 4-3,4-2 and now a 9-5 win.

Game seven will be played Wednesday

 Shore still alive in junior playoffs.

C and W Offshore Southern Shore Breakers staved off elimination Friday night in Kent St. John’s Junior Hockey League play as they doubled CBN Slatworkers Junior Stars 4-2. That means that CBN now lead the best of seven quarter final series three games to two. Game six is set for tonight at the Southern Shore Arena. Andrew Gale, Shane Boland, Josh Maye and Darrell Swain scored for the Shore. Greg Roberts and Blair Adams netted the CBN goals.25, 2010

Game 4 Results:  CBN Slateworks Stars 3 SS Breakers 4 Overtime win.  This game was played at the Southern Shore Arena on Wednesday night.  The Stars lead the series 3 to 1.  Game 5 will take place on Friday night at the Bay Arena in Bay Roberts, game time 7:30 pm.  Come out and support your Stars!

The CBN Slateworks Jr. Stars grabbed a 3-0 series lead on the Southern Shore Jr. Breakers with a 6 - 5 win at the Bay Arena, Monday night.  More details to follow.  Game 4 of this series will be played Wednesday Feb. 24 at the Southern Shore Arena, Game 5 if necessary will be played at the Bay Arena on Friday at 7:30 pm at the Bay Arena, Bay Roberts.

The CBN Slateworks Jr. Stars grabbed a 2 - 0 series lead on the Southern Shore Jr. Breakers with a 3 - 2 win at Mobil on Friday night. Tyler Adams was the big gun for CBN scoring all three goals. The Stars host the Southern Shore on Monday evening at the Bay Arena, game time 7:30.

The CBN slateworks Jr Stars opened the 2010 playoffs with a 4 - 1 victory over the Sothern Shore Jr. Breakers Tuesday night at the Bay Arena. Blair Adams lead the Stars with a goal and three helpers, also scoring for the Stars were Cody Noseworthy, Brian Greeley and Zac Ryan. The next home game for the Stars will go on Monday February 22 at 7:30 pm at the Bay Arena.

The CBN Slatworks Jr. Stars enter the playoffs on a high note as they win there final 5 games of the season and finish with a 15 - 12 - 1 record. The Stars were 7 - 2 after the Christmas break, one of the best records in the league. The Stars downed the T.P. Flyers 8 - 1 on Wednesday, Ferbuary 10 at the Bay Arena. On Friday night the Stars shut out the Southern Shore Junior Breakers 6 - 0 at Mobil and on Saturday night the Stars downed the Avalon Jr. Capitals 11 - 4 in the Stars final reguar season game.

The Stars open the first round of the playoffs on Tuesday, February 16 at the Bay Arena against the Southern Shore Jr. Breakers. Game two goes Friday, February 19  in Mobll with games three Monday, February 22 at the Bay Arena, game four is Wednesday, February 24 in Mobil with game 5 going Friday, February 26 at the Bay Arena and game 6 goes on Saturday, February 27 at Mobil. Game 7 if necessary will go at the Bay Arena, date to be announced.

The CBN Slateworks Jr. Stars picked up a pair of victories over the weekend. On Friday night at the Bay Arena the Stars downed The Avalon Jr. Capitals 7 - 3. The Stars controlled the game throughout and posted a convincing win.

On Sunday night at the Glacier the Stars scored four unanswered goals in the third period coming back from a 6 - 4 defict to defeat that Mount Pearl Jr. Blades 8 - 6. That victory moved the Stars into fourth place with three games remaining.

The Stars will host the Trinity Placentia Flyers this Friday night at home, this is the Stars final home game of the regular season as they close out the regular season with two road games the following weekend.

Stars Drop Two on Weekend

Despite losing both games on the weekend the CBN Slateworks Jr. Stars played well against two of the league top teams. On Friday night at home the Stars lost 4 - 2 to the league leading St. John’s Capitals. The Stars battled hard all night and out shot the Caps 37 - 29 having a hard time finding the back of the net.

On Sunday night the Stars lost 5 - 4 to the Junior Celtics in overtime at O’Heire Arena. the point the Stars picked up in this game allowed them to tie the Southern Shore Junior Breakers for fourth place overall. The Stars next game is Friday night at home when they host the Avalon Capitals, game time is 7:30 pm.

Stars Win Third In a Row

2010 is starting out pretty good for the CBN Slateworks Jr. Stars as they picked up a pair of victories over the weekend. On Friday night the Stars downed the Southern Shore Jr. breakers 6 - 3 at the Bay Arena and on Sunday afternoon the Stars beat the Bell Island Jr. Blues 5 - 3 on Bell Island. The wins improved the Stars record to 10 and 11 and moved them one point ahead of the Southern Shore for 4th place in the league.  At this point it appears the Stars and the Breakers are destined for a first round matchup in the playoffs and the battle wil be for home ice for that first round matchup.

The Stars have a rear weekend off this coming weekend and will play their next game at home on January 22 against the St. John’s Capitals.

The Conception Bay North Slateworks Jr. stars wouild like to wish their many fans and sponsors a Happy New Year and the hope the 2010 will be prosperous year for one and all.

The Stars started 2010 on a winning note edging the Trinity placentia Flyers 5 - 4 January 3 and the TP Stadium. The Stars will look to continue there winning ways as they host the Souther Shore Jr. Breakers this Friday at the Bay Arena and travel to Bell Island to tangle with the Bell Island Jr. Blues Sunday afternoon.

The Conception Bay North Slateworks Jr. Stars will hold their annual teddy bear toss at their game on Friday December 4th after the second intermission. All toys will be donated to the Salvation Army for their Christmas hampers. Please come out and support this worthy cause.
